In the 1950s
It is during the 1950s that women started becoming a part of the university academically despite not being able to obtain undergraduate degrees or fully matriculate into the university.
Throughout the decade, gradual steps were made towards full coed matriculation. Various master's programs at Santa Clara University began to allow female students, and Father Hauck, SCU's president from 1951-1958, corresponded with his peers and pushed for coeducation.
The steps made during this decade would not have been possible without the presence of the women's clubs in the previous decades and led to the full matriculation of female students to Santa Clara University in 1961.
