In 1971, Santa Clara University changed a policy that allowed for students to access free birth control, as seen in the newspaper article up above from 1970. Some time between 1971 and 75, this policy changed and students are no longer able to access free birth control.

These first two articles detail the decision of Father Engh, the current president of Santa Clara University, to take elective abortions off of the university's health insurance policy, in 2016. The next article details the failure of this policy change to actually go into effect, as it was deemed an invalid policy change by the department of Health and Human Services.
