1960s and Beyond

This is the famous "Tradition Shattered" newspaper which was published in The Santa Clara student newspaper. While the decision today seems an obvious and necessary one, the reception at the time of the decision was not always a positive one. Many students and faculty were unhappy with the decision and were not welcoming to the female students.

Despite this, it was an important decision to be made and many were supportive as well.

This article is an interview with Kathleen Bui, one of the first coed students and alumni. She continued to be involved with the University and was responsible for the first coed reunion. In this interview, she speaks of her experiences as a female student at Santa Clara University, and her experiences since.
